“Palm Sunday: From Celebration to “It is Finished””

As we move into this final week before Easter morning at the tomb, we’re confronted with a multitude of life’s challenges compressed into 7 days. Jesus enters Jerusalem to throngs of praise as the Messiah, only soon to be meeting his 12 disciples in the upper room to announce that he will be leaving them. Humility, compassion, love and betrayal follow from Holy Thursday, to the Garden as the situation evolves into his crucifixion on “Good” Friday. How do we understand these events and Jesus’s last words: “It is finished”?
